Nugier Joseph Perrodin

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Cross Church in Lafayette, for Nugier Joseph Perrodin, 68, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette while surrounded by his loving family.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass. Lectors will be Pam Perrodin and Amber Dean. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Ave Maria", "Be Not Afraid" and "Here I Am Lord" for the services.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Madeline Laura "Malu" Martin Perrodin; three daughters, Julie LeBlanc and her husband James, Michelle Hays and her husband Johnny, and Kelly Bertrand and her husband Mikey; one son, Randy Perrodin and his wife Susan; and ten grandchildren, Amber Dean, Chaz and Corey LeBlanc, Maria Perrodin, Peter, Laura, Mary, Jack, Madeline, Theresa, and Michael Hays.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Austin and Helena Noel Perrodin; sister, Lynda Perrodin Frey; and brother, Claude Perrodin.

A native and resident of Lafayette, Nugier Perrodin passed away on Christmas Day, his favorite day of the year. He retired from the Lafayette Fire Department after 36 years of service. He was the only fire fighter to serve in every rank on the fire line including Interim Fire Chief. Mr. Perrodin served on the Lafayette Firefighters Pension Board for several years, was a member of the Hobo Firefighters, served on the Civil Service Board, provided significant leadership to firefighters Union Local 619, was Firefighter of the Year for both District and State in 2002, and has received numerous other awards through the years. Nugier, along with good friend, Roudley LeBlanc, designed and sculpted the Firefighter statue downtown at Central Fire Station. He assisted with various charities and volunteered for Hospice of Acadiana for seven years. Mr. Perrodin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers will be Randy Perrodin, James LeBlanc, Johnny Hays, Mikey Bertrand, Peter Hays and Mitchell Perrodin.

A Rosary will be prayed Friday, December 28, 2007 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

Special thanks to Dr. Pham, Dr. Chen and the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center's 4th and 5th floors and ICU, Hospice of Acadiana and all family and friends who helped our family in the past few weeks.
