$20 Million Dollar liability, and rising!

$20 Million Dollars?

How could it be so much? There are an estimated 500 firefighters and police involved in this case. If you apply the estimated lost wages for each officer, and then add pension costs only, the numbers are clear. These are only estimates because accountants would first need to calculate where an officer would have been in 1996 if the correct pay adjustments had been applied annually since 1978 when the illegal procedure began.

Conservative Estimates

Lost wages and interest per officer $32,162.20
Number of officers x 500
Total wages and interest $16,081,100.00
Pension costs approx. 25% $4,020,275.00
Total wages, interest, & pension $20,101,375.00*
*Legal fees and other costs not represented here will add millions.

How much has been stolen from each officer? To provide an estimate of lost wages we must look first at a career officer and what has been stolen and is now unrecoverable due to laws relating to lost back pay. In particular, you may only recover up to three years prior to the filing of a wage lawsuit, and all wages from the filing forward until resolved.
